Garlic, for one, is known, and I have personal experience with this, to drastically lower blood cholesterol.  The downside is that you have to take it chopped and, yes, raw – for at [...]

Graffiti Art by D.O.C.S. Takes Inspiration from Nature

Ausias Pérez and Felipe Perdomo, street art, green art, eco art, grafitti, taggingCareful trompe l’oeil is hardly an artist’s technique you expect a tagger to employ in his graffiti work. But these often miscalculated and misunderstood artists have a lot to teach the world about style and artful urban transformation with a message. D.O.C.S (Doing Only Crooked Shit) is the graffiti-writing duo of Ausias Pérez and Felipe Perdomo, who recently created a piece called “Here Lies Street-Art” located on the banks of the River Ebro in Zaragoza, Spain. A surprisingly lush piece applied with a 2D medium, these artists are sowing the seeds for the revival of street art in Spain.

RM20b fund for high impact projects

The government has set up a special fund with an allocation of RM20 billion to implement more than 50 high impact projects in government-owned land under the 10th Malaysia Plan. Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussein said the fund was to facilitate the participation of private companies in investing in the projects concerned which involved over 1,000 hectares of government land. "This includes the land owned by the Armed Forces and the former Pudu Prison as well as various other government agencies," he told reporters after officiating the People's Champion Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tegayung in Bachok today. He said the areas already identified included Sungai Buloh in Selangor and Sungai Besi which would be developed as a new economic growth centre and the most modern city after Kuala Lumpur. The projects to be developed included office complexes, administration centre, light rail transit (LRT) and monorail, Awang Adek said. He said that so far, companies from Qatar and Abu Dhabi had agreed to invest in the areas concerned which would provide major job opportunities for the people. Awang Adek said the areas concerned needed to be developed as high impact projects to ensure an annual economic growth of around six per cent and the success of Vision 2020. He said the government-owned land was given to government-linked companies (GLCs) for joint projects with private companies interested to invest in such ventures. "It is not true that the government is selling the land to private companies as alleged by some parties," he added. -- Bernama

Mofaz eyes 70 super bike sales by year-end

Mofaz Motosikal Sdn Bhd (Momos), a subsidiary of the Mofaz group, has targeted to sell 60 to 70 units from its wide range of super bikes by the end of this year. Its director Datuk Nik Izani Nik Ibrahim said the company had already sold 40 units of the super bikes, including the Cagiva Mito SP 525, MV Agusta Brutale 990cc and 1078cc, and MV Agusta F4 1078RR. "Momos has enjoyed the patronage of MV Agusta over the last two decades, and with the exclusiveness of the MV Agusta brand appealing to discerning clientele, we're confident that the target is achievable within this year," he told reporters after launching the new MV Agusta Flagship store in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur today. On the store, Nik Izani said that it presented an innovative concept in minimalism, with distinctive interior designing dedicated to elegant display areas for motorcycles, clothing and special parts. "Momos and MV Agusta are set to reply to the increasing demand of the Asian market for very high quality, taste and refined products, reflected in the 'Made in Italy' standards which are diligently conformed to," he said. The RM300,000 store in Kuala Lumpur marked the third in Asia, with the earlier two being located in Japan and South Korea. -- Bernama
